Since 22nd March, TeamPankaj has provided relief to 39,000 families; filling an estimated 180,000 stomachs across 23 slum communities. Areas provided with support so far include Korogocho; Mukuru Maasai and Kayaba; Kibra communities in Laini Saba, Makina, Olympic and Lindi villages; Kosovo; Kiamaiko; Huruma; Lucky Summer; Kayole Matopeni; Ruaraka Kariadudu; Little Huruma; Dam slum; Kawangware; Commercial slum; Jerico; Agare slum; Mathare 4 and 5; Bondeni; Tassia; Grogan slum; Deep Sea slum; Githogoro slum; Ndumboini and Kiambio.
Although this represents a strong effort considering TeamPankaj’s humble beginnings, it represents a mere 5% of Nairobi’s 2.7 million people estimated to be living in informal settlements. More must be done and the initiative is determined to reach as many families in as many communities as its funding allows. Coronavirus has impacted every corner of the city and TeamPankaj is determined to meet it wherever its impact is felt.
